Morrowind Mods
So, I'm about to reinstall Morrowind. Big surprise, eh? Anyway, what're all your favorite mods, and why?

Re: Morrowind Mods
Building Up Tel Uvirith's Grave - Makes the Telvanni stronghold actually good
Great House Dagoth - Allows you to join the 6th House while retaining the moral ambiguity of the original games
Redesigned Vivec - Makes Vivec city actually good
No-Glo - Gets rid of the nasty plastic-wrap enchantments
Excuse me, Nerevarine - Adds custom dialogue to each NPC class when addressing the Nerevarine other than "E-e-excuse me, Nerevarine..."
Less Generic NPC Project - Does what it Says
Those are just some of my favorites, though.

Re: Morrowind Mods
Three small ones I recomend.
Lilacor the talking sword: Cool talking sword that levels when you do, and can tranform into a companion and is overall very awesome.
Muck shovel of vivec: A nifty small little quest, well put together and fun to complete.
Amulet of Scrye: The biggest one prolly, adds alot of quests and content and lets you have an amulet to see and interact with dead spirits. Very cool
And a few larger ones:
The ebony blade: Big dungeon crawl that is very well done for a very cool sword. The sword is nice, but really it's good for the dungeon.
Reign of fire: DRAGONS! DRAGONS THAT ATTACK TOWNS FOR YOU TO DEFEND. DRAGONS THAT YOU CAN RIDE ON. Seriously, very very cool questline. Especially when you get your pet dragon.

Re: Morrowind Mods
Regionally known criminals: Basically, you steal something in Balmora in front of a guard, and only Balmora knows that you're a thief. Nice and realistic, no more quantum entanglement communication between guards across the continent. There's also an escalation factor. If your bounty gets over a certain amount in Balmora, then you become known in all Hlaalu towns. Get much higher than that, and you're wanted across the whole island.
Why Bethesda couldn't accomplish this in Oblivion I don't know.

Oh, how I loathe the Ansible. You cast a fireball and it accidentally toasts one wandering fucktard peasant who doesn't have the good sense to RUN AWAY FROM THE FUCKING VAMPIRE BATTLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING STREET FUCK, and suddenly everyone in the entire city of Amn is on EPIC HATE MODE

Re: Morrowind Mods
Luckily everyone in amn was also fucking pathetic to the extent I murdered the entire town with just my monk main character.
I released them from the bonds of going over the same lines, day in and day out, the same hollow motions.
and suddenylu I'm the bad guy! What the hell!

If you're having that sort of problem in Morrowind, this mod makes bystander NPCS run away from fights as they do in Oblivion. Well really NPCS run into fights in Oblivion, but that's a whole other thread.

This is what I use instead of NoGlow. Replaces the plastic wrap effect with one that evokes power arcing through the item. It looks rather neat, and still allows you to see the actual texture underneath.

Re: Morrowind Mods
Oh yes, very much so. Of course there have been numerous attempts to make mods based on the stories that have been told about it, and the stories I see about it lately are really over the top, but there was a jvk1166z.esp that I'm pretty was the root of all the stories. It was very strange and very creepy (and very, very buggy) but not, of course, supernatural.
The only really weird thing about it is that the mod seems to have completely vanished. I mean yes, true, stuff always fades away given a few years, but you'd think you'd be able to find it somewhere.

Re: Morrowind Mods

Re: Morrowind Mods
Actually, jvk1166z.esp is just a mediocre porn mod. All the perplexing "features" happen on the PCs because it was made for the Mac version of the game.
Sadly, I don't have it anymore. The drive I kept it on stopped working for some reason, and after I left it at a service for data recovery, the service guys called me on the phone and told me to never set foot in there again. When I went to reclaim the device, I found out that the shop was closed for good, and they were selling the premises. That would seem creepy, but it happens to me fairly often. The last time I left one of my old PCs for an upgrade, the shop owner was found dead two days later. He wrote some sort of a half-articulated apology on the wall using his own feces, then hanged himself on the doorknob. And then, there are the stories of my two laptops, and the winter of 99' when I burned through no less than 51 dial-up modem between November and February.

Slotha Sil made me lol. XD
But in all seriousness, I think I sort of remember hearing about this way back when, like before Oblivion came out. But the way I heard it, I think, was that the mod wouldn't even play unless you could figure out how to make it work.
So that's probably why it's not around anymore...there's only so long you can play around with a mod that was probably just a hoax, and there was no way to make it work at all.
...Of course...who's to say that the few people who DID figure out how to make the thing work just aren't, for whatever reason, around anymore. MWA HA HA HA HA!
